The TOEFL (“Test of English as a Foreign Language”) is a standardized test that measures a test-taker's mastery of the English language. TOEFL scores are primarily used by universities as part of the admissions process. Typically, those who take the TOEFL want to attend university or graduate school abroad.
This section involves reading three or four passages from academic texts and answering questions. Candidates can practice reading passages from books or papers to prepare for this module. The passages in the test can be derived from anywhere. Only reading ability of the candidate is checked.
This section requires a candidate to listen to academic lectures, classroom discussions and conversations; then answering questions related to the topic. The test takers need to be alert and active in this section of the exam as they will be later asked questions from the sessions. It is advisable that students take notes while listening to the lectures and discussions.
According to the syllabus of TOEFL, in this section, test takers have to express an opinion on a familiar topic. They will have to speak based on Reading and Listening tasks. This section evaluates a candidate's ability to comprehend information. Basically, one needs to explain what he/she has read.
In this section, candidates will have to write essay responses based on the reading and listening tasks that is provided. The candidate will also have to support an opinion in writing. The candidate should be well informed in order to crack this section.
