NDA

NDA or National Defence Academy Exam is a national level exam organized by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) to recruit candidates in Army, Navy and Air Force. It is a two-tier examination, wherein, candidates qualifying the written test will also have to clear the SSB interview round.

NDA Eligibility

The eligibility of a candidate willing to appear for NDA is evaluated on the basis of four different categories.

As per Nationality:

Apart from Indian origin, candidates from other countries can also appear for NDA 2019. For the same the candidate must either be 

  • An India citizen
  • A citizen of Bhutan or,
  • A citizen of Nepal

Tibetan refugees who came over to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible to appear for NDA 2019.

An Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible to appear for NDA 2019 exam.

Note: The candidate from other countries other than India must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

As per Age Limit:

Minimum Age: 16.5 years

Maximum Age: 19.5 years

The date of birth will be calculated as mentioned on the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation.

As per Educational Qualification:

Army Wing of National Defence Academy: The Candidates willing to apply for Indian Army must possess a class 12/HSC in 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Air Force, Navy and Naval Academy of National Defence Academy:  The Candidates willing to apply for Air Force, Navy and Naval Academy must possess a class 12/HSC in 10+2 pattern of School Education with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

As per Physical standard:

Candidates willing to appear for NDA 2019 must be physically and mentally fit, according to the prescribed physical standards of the conducting authority i.e. SSB (Services Selection Board). A candidate recommended by the SSB will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers.

The candidate must possess a good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of Military duties. The candidates selected by the authority will be admitted to the academy for further training.

Minimum height required is 157 cm for Army, Navy and Naval Academy while 162.5 cm for Air Force. A leverage of 5 cm is provided to Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North-Eastern regions.

Other Factors:

Marital Sex: Candidates must be unmarried in order to appear for the NDA 2019 exam.

Gender: Only male candidates are eligible to apply for NDA 2019.

NDA EXAM Process

Step 1: Fill Application Form

  • At this stage, the candidates will have to fill the application forms to appear for the examination. The forms are available online on the official website.
  • The interested candidates need to visit the official website and fill the application form online for NDA Exam.
  • To apply, the aspirants are required to login on the official website and click on "Apply online" and fill up the form online.
  • While filling up the form candidates has to select the preferred venue.
  • After submission of the form, the online generated Hall ticket is sent to the email ID of the candidate (the email ID provided by the candidate during filling up of the form).

Step 2: Download NDA Admit Cards

  • The NDA exam admit cards will be made available on the official website for downloads. The candidates will need their guardian’s email address and the student’s full name in order to download the admit card.
  • NDA exam admit card is an important document having variety of information. We advise to preserve the admit cards until the admission process is successfully conducted.

Step 3: Appear for NDA Exam

  • Students need to appear for NDA exam as per the schedule mentioned in the important date’s section.
  • Aspirants are advised to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the commencement of the exam.

Step 4: Check NDA Result

The conducting body would be declaring the results for NDA Exam on their official website. The candidates shall check their NDA exam results once announced, by simply submitting their application number and date of birth on the official website.

Mathematics: This paper consists of general mathematical topics till the 12th standard as given below.

  • Analytical Geometry Two and Three Dimensions
  • Differential Calculus
  • Integral Calculus and differential equation
  • Vector Algebra
  • Statistics and Probability
